Just a Thought

If I carried 400 on a night out, flashed it about in front of others, got extremely drunk, and then walked home alone down a dark alley, I'd be asking to get mugged of my handbag!! Of course it doesn't make it right, but it's true! Suggesting that wearing provocative clothes, getting extremely drunk and sexually flirting with strangers doesn't increase your risk of coming to harm, is very irresponsible! It still doesn't make it right, but for Gods sake, take some responsibility for your own safety!

Totally. When you've got 400 in cash lying around, you should probably leave it at home when you go out for the night. It's a physical thing that somebody could take from you, and it's probably best you leave it at home.

So, should I leave my breasts at home as well? What about my vagina? That's probably safest at home, isn't it? No one's going to rape it there!

You're equating a physical piece of property with someone's innate biological characteristics. You don't have to take that money out with you. But my legs aren't detachable.

Society expects, even demands, that women be "beautiful". We're bombarded all the time with images of sexy, fun women in short skirts and low-cut blouses. That's beauty as our society gives it to us. And when we live up that image that we're spoon-fed every day, when we wear the clothes society marks out for us as "beautiful," suddenly we deserve to get raped for it.

So, women should obviously look pretty, since anything else would be un-feminine and gross-tastic, right? But they should just look pretty inside, at home, not drinking, eating as little as possible, with a skirt at least three inches below the knee.

I would rather take responsibility for living my own life the way I choose to, than take responsibility for every asshole out there in the world who might possibly at any point decide he might like to rape me. Thanks, though.

most rapes are by someone the the person knows anyway - so leaving your breasts or vagina at home sadly wouldn't make much difference in many cases.
