Spare me your excuses

This is in response to one of the comments I read on this blog.

Women are told that we need to understand that when men are aroused, they don't think logically. And then they say that it's how women dress and act that arouses them. So of course, it's back to being women's fault if men are aroused and men are in no way responsible for their reactions to women's bodies. Well guess what? There are a few things YOU men need to understand:

1. I'm not going to take responsibility for any man being aroused if it is not my direct intention to arouse him. Just about anything can arouse men-jeans, t-shirt, hair cut, hair color, perfume, jewelry, makeup, pretty shoes. The slightest hint of cleavage can arouse some breast-obsessed man-child. A woman doesn't even have to wear something sexy to arouse some unknown man she wants nothing to do with. I don't work in a strip club where I'm being paid to arouse childish, self-absorbed men who think women are good for nothing more than their entertainment. So if you are aroused, that is YOUR responsibility. No one is making you ogle the woman you blame for arousing you. No one is holding a gun to your head making you fixate on her breasts, rear-end or whatever body part you are staring at. You are doing that all on your own. So take responsibility for your actions, what's going on in your mind, and the fact that you are contributing to your own sexual arousal. You could always look away or walk away if a woman is just so mind-bogglingly arousing that you can't think straight.

2. If you can't think logically when sexually aroused, then maybe you should just stay home because you are not fit to walk amongst humanity. What exactly does that mean? That it's ok for you to do whatever you want and your not responsible because you can't think logically when aroused? Men lose control and rape women when aroused because they are not thinking "logically?" What a joke! You need to remember that rape is not some romantic act of love that men engage in when they are just so overcome by a woman's beauty. It is an act of extreme soulessness, selfishness and violence that frighten women to the core and changes her forever when it happens to her. Are you capable of having any empathy for that at all?

I don't care what your excuses are: if you are a man over 18, by law you are considered responsible for your actions. I don't accept this crap that you can't think logically when aroused. If you can't then you'd better do something about it because I'm not about to put up with any man using that line as an excuse. It is perfectly reasonable to expect grown men to be able to control themselves and I don't care how aroused you are. And if you can't control yourself and you abuse people with your out-of-control actions, you should be behind bars. Period.
