The way rape victims are treated

Its official, Rape is the only crime where the victim becomes the suspect, and for a crime which is just below murder there are a lot of victims who recieve a lot of stress and dissbelief from autorities and the majority of the suspecs get away scott free. Rape is like emotional murder, it kills everything you were before the event. It kills everything you used to be you feel emotionally dead inside and numb. I have felt personally victimised by the CID they blamed me for it and said hurtful things to me: "Why didn't you scream?" "You might just be attention seeking" "Describe what you think rape is" "You could've easily walked out of the house.. we went up and checked the scene & This could've been prevented" Did they ever think about locked doors and the fact that his big brother was in the house too?

I was 18 when this happened & I still am.

Has it actually came to a time where woman have to wear old & baggy clothes to prevent getting raped!? Well the truth is that this does not cause rape. Real men don't rape, real men understand the word 'NO' rapists are disgusting human beings and should all be sent to prison to rot!

I agree with this rhona, I felt pretty badly treated by the CID - Whilst in the room I overheard a conversation about me between to officers - one was on the phone and the other was sitting in front of me. "Did you get a hold of the partner for questioning?" "Yes he's there just now" "So he'll know she lied about it."
Tell me who would lie about an ordeal like that? Its been 7 months and im STILL dealing with it daily - I am not the person I used to be, I can hardly eat, hardly sleep, everything is a mountanous task to me when it shouldnt be. Tell me why I would be able to keep a facade so tiring and so WRONG for 7 months?
Seemed to me to be good cop bad cop to try and get the 'truth'. Well the truth is i was raped - I didnt want it and irregardless of whethere me and my partner had an argument directly before it happened does not mean I wanted it!
Something needs to be done. Its shocking the way i was treated - I felt like the accused! More support is needed not just from the police though - from partners as well.

Seems like the only support available is through charities and thats just wrong - there should be govt. intiatives not having to have a charity set up in order to help us.

Can't even express in words, the physical, emotional and psychological pain I feel from how i've been treated since reporting it. I've lost everything, family, friends, job, home, everything. DO NOT REPORT RAPE TO THE POLICE!
