Slutty Dress

Recently there was a presentation done by a police officer to a group of young woman at York University (that's York in Toronto, not York in UK). He stated that “women should avoid dressing like sluts in order not to be victimized”.

It has completely shocked our community that a representative of the police department would say something like this. To see how Toronto responded please look at Slut Walk (http://www.slutwalktoronto.com/ )

We were galvanized into action and took our name from a Toronto Police officer who referred to women and survivors of sexual assault as sluts" and suggested women 'dressing like sluts' were inviting their own victimization."

It's disgusting how anyone could blame a victim. And to know it was a police officer that made the comment? It's disheartening. Police officers are meant to PROTECT, not blame.

I'm glad Toronto citizens took a stand against that BS. Good for you!
